Tinashe Mugabe


FC ATHLETICO founder Tinashe Mugabe was born in the United States and grew up in Gweru, Zimbabwe. At 18, Tinashe returned to the United States and attended the University of North Carolina - Wilmington, where he studied International Business, having studied in Valencia, Spain.


After graduating from UNC-Wilmington, Tinashe moved to Australia, where he played for NSW Premier League side Manly United Football Club before transferring and playing in Germany for one season.


In August 2014, Tinashe founded FC ATHLETICO and has served as the club President and Executive Director. Tinashe used his Zimbabwean, Spanish, German and the United States to form the club philosophy and training methodology implemented throughout FC ATHLETICO.


Under his guidance, FC ATHLETICO teams have enjoyed tremendous local, regional and national success. Tinashe has successfully led teams to Championships in the Premier and Gold brackets with several age groups, including 2006 Boys and Girls, 2007 Boys, 2008 Boys and Girls, 2010 Boys and 2012 Girls.


Tinashe Mugabe guided the FC ATHLETICO 2010 Boys to the club's first U.S. Club Southeast Regional Championship and U.S. Club National Cup in June and July 2023, respectively.
